Product Detail

Customer benefits:

Compliant with IEC standards and F-gas regulation

  •  Compliant with IEC standards and with the EU F-gas regulation (EU) 2024/573.

  •  High ratings up to 2500A. Single busbar modular and compact lowpressure design, based on natural origin gases (SF6 free).

  •  Loss of service continuity LSC 2A  and partition class PM*.

Reliable and flexible

  • Compact and modular design for space optimization.

  • Very low maintenance required as all high voltage parts are permanently sealed in a gas tank and protected from soiling, humidity, foreign bodies, and other environmental influences.

  • Due to the low-pressure design,  the switchgear can remain in service  up to the point of repair, even in the unlikely event of a leak.

  • The switchgear can be enabled with monitoring and diagnostics (e.g., temperature, gas, partial discharge)  to track asset health. Automation and control features based on current and voltage sensors and IEC 61850 protocol allow for customization during the manufacturing phase and varying loads during operations.

  • Well known and proven vacuum circuit breaker type VD4X.

  • Outer cone cable termination system.

Safety

  •  High level of operator safety with front, lateral and rear arc protection,  certified AFL(R) 40kA 1s (according to IEC 62271-200).

  • Plug-in busbar technology and the factory-assembled pressure relief duct allows for safe, quick and easy installation at site.

  • With the switchgear diagram and operation controls on the front panel, no opening of the doors  is required for manual operation making the switchgear operator friendly.

  •  Wide range of monitoring and diagnostic features for safe and reliable operations. All switching devices are motor-operated and  can be controlled remotely.

  •  Mechanical and electrical interlocks prevent incorrect operation of the switchgear panels.

FAQ
Q: What’s the difference in the circuit breaker for air-insulated vs gas-insulated?
A: Air-insulated switchgear circuit breaker is typically removable or withdrawable. The circuit breaker is based on vacuum circuit technology. In the gas-insulated, it is fixed mounted. The function of withdraw is provided by a separate disconnecting switch. Typically, a three-position switch with connected, disconnected, and ready-to-earth position.

Q: What are the maintenance requirements associated with the air-insulated switchgear (AIS) vs gas-insulated (GIS)?
A: Gas-insulated switchgear requires very low maintenance as all high voltage parts are permanently protected in a gas tank from soiling, humidity, entry of foreign bodies and other environmental influences. Primary, the drives located outside gas compartment require inspection and maintenance. On the other hand, gas-insulated switchgear repair requires additional training (e.g. for gas works) and the replacement or parts may not be as easily. In the air-insulated switchgear visual inspection is recommended in regular intervals, maintenance of power parts is given in installation, operation and maintenance manual (1VLM000363).
Q: What smart solutions are available for ABB’s AIS portfolio?
A: ABB’s switchgear smart solutions are designed to help our customers make data-driven decisions. Our customers can benefit from a wide range monitoring, diagnostic, automation and control features for their ABB’s air-insulated medium voltage switchgear. Contact our sales team to learn more about ABB’s smart solutions for each of our switchgear.

Electric Vehicle Charging Pile Testing Technologies and Failure Analysis
1. Detection Technology for Electric Vehicle Charging PilesEV charging piles are primarily divided into two categories:DC charging pilesandAC charging piles. Let's start with DC charging piles: they communicate with the EV's battery management system (BMS) and directly charge the power battery through the DC charging interface. AC charging piles, on the other hand, rely on the EV's AC charging interface and use the vehicle-mounted charger to complete the charging process. These two types of char
